Donor Spotlight: Fluor - Child Advocates of Fort Bend
Donor Spotlight: Fluor

Over the past 20 years, the Fluor Foundation, Fluor Cares and the Employee Giving Campaign the global engineering and construction company, as well as numerous individual employees have donated over $125,000 to CAFB. And just as important, many employees have made significant impact on countless children and families through their volunteer involvement.

When it comes to inspiring and equipping the foster youth we serve with a brighter future, Fluor is a natural partner. For over 20 years, the global engineering and construction company has supported Child Advocates of Fort Bend in many ways, through the Fluor Foundation, Fluor Cares volunteer program and many individual employees who’ve contributed more than$125,000 collectively.  The people of Fluor have made a huge impact on countless children and families throughout their involvement.

Most recently, Fluor employees surprised Ruthanne Mefford, staff and volunteers with a $7,500 grant award toward WINGS.

“The mission of Child Advocates of Fort Bend is life changing. By empowering youth with the means for self-sufficiency, we are addressing one of our company’s goals to create resilient, sustainable communities where we live and operate. Fluor supports programs and initiatives, like the WINGS program, that develop leadership skills and build character and resiliency within youth”, said Barbara Jones, Senior Manager of Community & Public Affairs.

Fluor’s commitment to volunteerism has been a cornerstone for many causes in the community. At events such as Fluor’s lunch and learns and charity fairs, employees get an opportunity to meet representatives from Child Advocates of Fort Bend and learn how to become involved.

“I have been a volunteer with Child Advocates of Fort Bend for over 9 years. My husband works at Fluor and so do several of my friends. It was such a wonderful surprise to learn they would be backing them yet again. Fluor has been such a wonderful supporter over the years,” said Sylviane Hoare, Child Advocates of Fort Bend Volunteer.

In addition, and on a personal level, many of Fluor’s employees choose to make contributions to Child Advocates through its annual Employee Giving Campaign, and Fluor magnifies their gift with a 50 percent match.

Thank you to Barbara Jones, Vicki Luna, Kristin Hesser, Freddy Gutierrez, the Fluor Foundation and the many others at Fluor Corporation who have made advocating for children a priority for many years, and continue to do so with passion.
